Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Each October, 1st Lake team members participate in Lee National Denim Day, an annual event in support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. On a designated Friday in October, 1st Lake team members donate a minimum of $5 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for the privilege of wearing denim on that particular Friday. Each year our team members enjoy wearing jeans as a sign of their support, and more importantly, have made generous donations to help the fight against breast cancer.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. The mission of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment. Since its inception, over $70 million was raised from donations received by companies participating in Lee National Denim Day. Lee National Denim Day is one of several events planned each year to help raise money for the Foundation, in which many businesses across the nation participate.
1st Lake Properties is proud to be part of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s fight against breast cancer, by participating in this event.
