Most everyone who lives in the greater New Orleans area is aware of the wealth of festivals and events in the region. Many who have decided to settle here were drawn to the area due in great part to the festivities the region is famous for. With the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest having just passed, there are plenty of great events to still look forward to!
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is one of the marquis events New Orleans area residents mark on their calendars. More commonly known as “Jazz Fest”, the festival brings a wide-ranging group of musicians to the area to play at the event. For multiple days, festival goers enjoyed fantastic music from nearly every genre, with artists both local, national, and international. There was plenty of local food as well as arts and crafts, so attendees can have fun with the whole family.
With the heat of summer comes a slew of festivals around the southern Louisiana region outside of New Orleans as well, including the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, Cochon de Lait Festival, and Mandeville Seafood Festival. For those willing to make the drive, each event brings its own brand of fun, food, and entertainment!
Back in New Orleans, there are also several prominent events that are huge draws to people both local and non-local. On July 4th – 6th, Essence Music Festival is another multi-day musical event being held in the New Orleans Superdome this year. Many huge national acts will be performing live, and there will be inspirational empowerment seminars held at the event as well. Shortly afterward on August 5th – August 8th, Satchmo Summer Fest will be held in the French Quarter. Celebrating the life and legacy of Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, the event seems to grow bigger every year and offers plenty of food, music, and culture that is uniquely New Orleans.
The fun doesn’t stop in the fall. October 29th – October 31st, The Voodoo Music Experience takes place in New Orleans, featuring multiple stages and live acts from around the country. Showcasing widely varying genres, The Voodoo Music Experience has quickly cemented itself as a must-see event for many in the greater New Orleans region. With the event taking place on Halloween weekend, it has become a great way to get out and have some fun before Halloween night.
The events and festivals in southern Louisiana are almost too numerous to count, and there is never any shortage of things to do in greater New Orleans. Jefferson Parish residents at 1st Lake Properties are right around the bend from many of these exciting events!
