The company was founded in 1970 by Henry Shane and Tim Favrot, beginning as a partnership between two local families. That spirit of teamwork continues today, with multiple generations still actively involved in leading the company forward.
As Jefferson Parish celebrates its 200th year, we’re honored to have grown alongside the community where it all began. From one property in Metairie to more than 75 apartment communities across Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, our journey has been shaped by the people we serve and the places we call home.
Today, 1st Lake manages over 10,000 apartment homes throughout Greater New Orleans, including Metairie, Kenner, and River Ridge, as well as in Baton Rouge, on the Northshore, and in Picayune, Mississippi. In addition to residential communities, we also manage a portfolio of commercial properties, including office, retail, industrial, and self-storage.
Alongside our affiliated companies, we are the largest developers and managers of multifamily communities in Louisiana. We continue to design, build, acquire, and manage properties with a long-term commitment to the areas we serve.
